A quick update on the events upcoming for this weekend. It looks like the weather has taken a turn for the worse. This week, high temperatures are between 107 and 110 degrees. Not exactly what I had in mind for the trip. That said, we push ahead.
We're launching the kayaks (now 3) in an undisclosed location on the Trinity River and paddling (and dragging) a short 3 miles upstream. It is at this location we will set up for the next 24 hours.
We're armed with quality tackle, quality rigs (I hope), a lot of water, and a healthy amount of ambition.
If we are in range for mobile services, we will update from the river, otherwise, a mass update will be provided upon our return.

August 6-7 / Alligator Gar
Alligator Gar (Atractosteus spatula). The largest freshwater fish in Texas, and one of the most primitive.
In August we will make our first *serious* attempt at catching one.
Fishing a murky river, for fish that can make 8 ft, and over 300 lbs, with a mouth full of teeth and a bad attitude? That doesn't seem out of the norm. What do we need to make it just a little more interesting?
Kayaks.
That should do it.

KERA Was Here
KERA was here at the take out and interviewed us about the trip. Totally unplanned. Talk about timing. She said the interview should air Wednesday at 630 and 830 am and once in the evening on 90.1fm
